HeartLands Family Tradition
The HeartLands Ranch, home to Ryan Madison, Inc., was established in 1845, The ranch was nurtured and passed through the loving hands of Keith O'Rian, Joseph, John, and my beloved mother Eve, and currently managed by Luke and Darlene Tovar. We established the new wave of genetics into HeartLands Ranch in 2014 when we realized the importance of genetic selection and their significance in Feed Intake within the cattle industry. Today, HeartLands Ranch and Ryan Madison, Inc. lay in the hands of the fourth, fifth, and sixth generation ranchers.
Our Mission
At HeartLands Ranch, we believe in producing superior genetics by crossbreeding cattle with the commercial cattleman in mind – Wagyu /Angus genetics combined together to make sound commercial sense. For over 170 years, HeartLands Ranch has selected cattle that meet high standards for Adaptability, Fertility, Milking Ability, and Beef Production, we are combining our genetics with industry proven technology to provide you the best in Marbling, Calving Ease, and combining industries Top 1% in WW and YW with the Best Genetics for Profit Efficiency.
Our Vision
HeartLands Wagyu Beef has the goal to change the way we produce our Wagyu to set a new benchmark in animal welfare and sustainability. We are three years into a five-year project to create a new standard, based on holistic grazing with small paddocks rotations, this has proved the upmost efficiency and improvement of our ecology, which delivers a single standard and benchmark for on-farm rearing and total animal production. Our Holistic approach is a multi-faceted standard that includes animal welfare and husbandry, environmental management, nutrition, food safety and product integrity.
Our cattle are raised on their mothers until they are weaned. After weaning our animals have access to pastures and are rotated 3 times a day through our ecologically friendly paddocks, allowing them to naturally graze. Being a 100% grass feed producer, Heartlands Ranch, prides itself in maintaining our American Wagyu solely on what nature intended, maintaining our standards of 100% grass feed beef, while providing premium high-quality marbling.
Our Holistic grazing combined with our Ecologically Friendly Paddock standards, ensure we have control over the environment in which the animals are raised, their humane management and welfare. Our Holistic Ranching® standard implements the maximum standards for animal production, far exceeding industry requirements.

What We've Achieved
Heartlands Ranches sound vision in the selection of cattle has been based on Proven EPA’s and HD 50K for Angus Genetic selection in order to bring you the best calves and ultimate profit. we have embraced superior and influential sires and dams in the Wagyu/Angus breed.
HeartLands Ranch, has spent countless years trying to figure out how to breed better cattle for our customers. Nearly every day, we spend time studying bloodlines and EPD information, planning matings to produce future bulls, or figuring out the effects of a genetic change on our commercial herd.
